Is this posting exact wording or a synopsis of the last Council Meeting? One part of the resolution reads that all those who have the new membership cards signed by Chief Gray have met the constitutional requirements of membership put forth in the constitution. Then later it states, "for the purpose of this INITIAL election, those with membership cards may vote."....Why point out that JUST for this initial election........Reminds me of the questionaire we voted on to make our wishes known. We voted that election of congress would NOT come from districts. Overwhelmingly. Then the constitution comes out and says for the INITIAL vote, the congresspersons would be elected at large and not from districts.... but perhaps future elections might be by districts. Did I read the constitution correctly on this point? The INITIAL VOTE this June will include all of the trusting people that voted two to one for the constitution. Good idea for the current administration.....Keep the electorate you now have. Will ALL of us with the new cards since 2002 also be around to vote four years from now if the current government is still in place? Is our membership card good in 2006 and forever? Would the council please state that since we have met the criteria today we will also meet it tomorrow... be grandfathered in forever....and never be asked to appear before an Osage official at some future date to show why we should not be removed from the roll? Would the Council just say THAT to those of us with the the new membership cards? Seems like a small request.
