RESOLUTION OF THE OSAGE TRIBAL COUNCIL WHEREAS, No.31-1533 1 . This Osage Tribal Council, organized pursuant to the provisions of the Act of June 28, 1906, 34 Stat. 539, as amended, is the last governing body of the Osage Tribe of Indians to be elected under the authority of said Act; and, 2. In accordance with Article XXII, Section 2, of the newly adopted Osage Nation Constitution, the Osage Tribal Council has the continued responsibility to persist in performing the duties of their offices, in a manner not repugnant of the Constitution, until those officers are superseded by newly elected or appointed officers as organized under the Constitution; and 3. Article XIII, Section 1, of the newly adopted Osage Nation Constitution provides that all enrolled members of the Osage Nation who have attained the age of 18 years and are registered to vote are entitled to vote in the elections of the newly reformed Osage Nation Government; and 4. That all Osage Tribal membership cards issued since October of 2002 bearing the signature of Principal Chief Jim Gray, have been issued to Osage people who meet the membership criteria set forth in Article III, Section 2, of the newly adopted Osage Nation Constitution; and 5. That an immediate burden has been placed upon the Membership Department of the Osage Nation to timely enroll all eligible applicants for membership in the newly reorganized Osage Nation Government in preparation for the June 5, 2006, election of government officials in accordance with the requirements of the Osage Nation Constitution. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, 1. That for the purpose of the conducting of the initial election of the newly reformed Osage Nation Government in accordance with the Osage Nation Constitution of 2006, all those Osage People who have attained the age of 18 years and who possess tribal membership cards issued subsequent to October 9, 2002, bearing the signature of Principal Chief Jim R. Gray, shall be considered enrolled members entitled to vote in the Osage Nation Election of June 5, 2006; and 2. The Principal Chief, or in his absence the Acting Principal Chief, is hereby authorized to sign this Resolution. CERTIFICATION I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution No. 31-1533 was considered by the Osage Tribal Council at a duly called meeting in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, at which a quorum was present and the same was adopted by a vote of 5 in favor, 0 opposed and 3 absent on this 15th day of March, 2006. _______________________________ Principal Chief Attest: _________________________________ Secretary
