RESOLUTION OF THE OSAGE TRIBAL COUNCIL WHEREAS, No. 31-1531 1. The Osage Tribal Council, organized pursuant to provisions of the Act of June 28, 1906, 34 Stat. 539, as amended, is the last governing body of the Osage Tribe of Indians elected pursuant to the 1906 Act; and, 2. At the request of the Osage Tribal Council, the Congress of The United States passed the Act of December 3, 2004, Public Law 108-431, reaffirming the inherent sovereign rights of the Osage Tribe to determine its membership and form of government; and, 3. On March 11, 2006 in a referendum election conducted at the direction and under the authority of the Osage Tribal Council, the Osage People approved a new Osage Nation Constitution as proposed by the Osage Nation Government Reform Commission as the means of making such determinations of membership and form of government, and which ratification was formally certified by the Osage Election Committee on March 11, 2006. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, 1. That the Osage Tribal Council, acting under the authority of the 1906 Act hereby certifies the adoption of the Osage Nation Constitution of 2006 by a vote of the Osage People, declaring the Constitution to be the fundamental law of the newly named Osage Nation; and 2. Directing that an official Certificate of Adoption bearing the signatures of all Council Members, the Principal Chief, Assistant Principal Chief and all members of the Osage Nation Government Reform Commission be entered upon the original Constitution for posterity; and 3. The Principal Chief, or in his absence the Acting Principal Chief, is hereby authorized to sign this Resolution. CERTIFICATION I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution No. 31-1531 was considered by the Osage Tribal Council at a duly called meeting in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, at which a quorum was present and the same was adopted by a vote of 6 in favor, 0 opposed and 2 absent on this 15th day of March 2006. ______________ Principal Chief Attest: ___________________________ Secretary
