I think the ratios of the "yes" and "no" votes are deceptive. It's important to note that those who voted in person, in the Pawhuska Cultural Center, were pretty much evenly divided (336 "yes" and 310 "no"). The absentee voters made the difference. We were undone by the Tribe's financial machinery and information hoarding (they had all the names of the voters and we had access only to shareholders from 4 years ago). The Tribe was able to bankroll trips to CA and TX, to send massive mailings, and to hustle votes by phone. The absentee voters have much more to lose under this flawed document, and we could have changed minds if we'd had the time and the money. I think it's remarkable that the Osage County voters were so divided. The Tribal Council and the Government Reform Commission CAN'T be feeling good about that. And, it goes to show how much influence we can have with the 3 months remaining until June. I say, it's on!
