First I'd like to honor the board of the OSA and all those who worked so hard to get the message out that the Constitution and the process to get it ratified had a lot of very serious problems. But we all should have known from the start it was a long shot to defeat it. The Commission had nearly unlimited funds and a mailing list of all the eligible voters. Plus most of the tribe, including us really wanted a new government. I believe very few of the No votes were actually against change, they just wanted a better document. What we need to do now is start looking for the right candidates for the new government offices that will be willing to support and initiate the needed amendments to fix at least the most dangerous problems with the Constitution. An organization like the OSA now has the advantage. They can't use tribal funds to campaign for their Candidates and the tribe can't fight against proposed amendments, especially if they are proposed by the Congress that we help elect. We need to start looking for the right Candidates, from the new all powerful Chief,on down. There's still a lot of fighting to do if we want to help our people, and this time we have the advantage.
