Three full color postcards arrived at one Osage home last week, a picture of an Osage elder on one side and some "rah rah, vote for the Constitution" text on the other, printed in the heaviest quality cardstock paper with first class postage affixed. I priced color copies recently and know that it costs $1.00 for a one sided color copy on plain Xerox paper. Sixty Osage citizens demanded an accounting of the OGRC's expenses (along with answers to more than 10 points of contention) by way of a formal grievance, and received only a letter from the Chief stating that he "understood our grievance had resolved itself." We have to try again to force a public accounting. So much of our money is being wasted on this ill conceived plan. Meanwhile, we have low income tribal citizens being denied the most basic services, like housing and heating assistance, based on funding availability. This is outrageous.
