That letter you refer to states the proposed constitution does not define who is a member of the Osage Nation. It only describes lineal descendants of 1906 Allottee as "eligible" for membership. Also, the letter goes on to say that the proposed constitution "endeavors to ensure that the rights of members of the Osage Nation to income derived from that mineral estate are protected, without recognizing the special legal or political status of the Osage Mineral Estate as a matter of Federal law." This wording is dangerous and lacking protection for us as headright owners. We would ask that this be rewritten in the final Constitution to sew up gaping loopholes.
